Vitamin B

Vitamin B is one of the essential ingredients for the skin. It acts as a moisturiser, anti-inflammatory and reduces dryness lines. In this article, you will read all about this important vitamin and what it does for the skin.

What is vitamin B?

Vitamin B is a complex and consists of 8 different vitamins. Each vitamin has its own number and designation on the ingredient list. So it's best to think of them separately. Despite the fact that they are often used in a complex of some to all vitamins.

The B vitamins are indicated by a number and have their own designation:

Vitamin B1 - Thiamine

Vitamin B2 - Riboflavin

Vitamin B3 - Niacin or niacinamide

Vitamin B5 - Pantothenic acid

Vitamin B6 - Pyridoxine

Vitamin B7 - Biotin

Vitamin B9/B11 - Folic acid

Vitamin B12 - cobalamin

Vitamin B3 - The Multitasker

Vitamin B plays an important role in the production of essential building blocks in the skin. This is why it is widely used in skin care products. Vitamin B is widely used to combat skin ageing, with vitamin B3 being one of the most effective.

Vitamin B3 improves the skin's ability to retain moisture. This leads to softer, smoother skin that feels less dry. It also reduces redness and reduces pigment production. This reduces the risk of dark spots. Vitamin B3 is good for treating acne, eczema, dry skin and hyperpigmentation. Vitamin B3 is water-soluble and is not stored in the skin or body. This means that getting vitamin B is essential through diet and skin care.

What does vitamin B3 do for your skin?

- Improves the skin's defence system

- Stimulates protein production to strengthen the skin and prevent and reduce inflammation

- Reduces excessive sebum production in oily/impure/acne skin

- Stimulates the production of collagen

- Reduces brown discolouration/pigmentation marks in the skin

- Strengthens the upper skin layer and increases moisture content

- Prevents irritations and increases resistance to harmful/irritating substances

- Reduces redness and evens out the complexion

Vitamin B3 is a real multi-tasker and can be used for:

- Anti-aging

- Brown (Pigment) spots (hyperpigmentation)

- Sun damage

- Dehydration (dehydrated skin)

- Sensitivity

- Inflammation

As you can see, vitamin B can be used for many different desires/skin problems. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory action, it prevents permanent damage in skin cells. A combination of vitamin B with vitamin A (retinol) works great. It enhances the anti-ageing result and neutralises the possible irritation of vitamin A. Vitamin A & B is a perfect combination!

Vitamin B3 in products

If it is at the front or in the middle, it contains enough of the active ingredient. If it is at the back, the percentage is often too low to be effective.
