Frequently asked questions

What do you use skin products for?

Skin products are used to care for, improve and/or rejuvenate your skin. They work to improve the condition of the skin. Many skin products moisturise, firm and make the skin soft and supple, but you can also work on skin problems such as pigmentation, redness and wrinkles. Overall, skin products ensure healthy and radiant skin.

Why do I get tight skin after showering?
Water naturally has a different pH value than the skin. As a result, water has a drying effect on the skin. The warmer the water, the more the skin is degreased. As a result, the skin loses a lot of moisture and feels tight. This is called dehydrated skin. Make sure not to use too hot water in the shower and pat your skin dry instead of wiping your skin dry with the towel. Use a hydrating serum and moisturiser to restore moisture to your skin.

What is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?

People often think that dry and dehydrated skin are the same thing, but this is not true. The difference lies in the underlying deficiency. With dry skin, there is a fat deficit: not enough sebum (skin's own fat) is produced. This skin benefits from a greasier cream to make up for this deficiency. With dehydrated skin, there is a water deficit in the skin. This skin is dehydrated and lacks hyaluronic acid (skin's own moisturiser). This skin can even be combination to oily and needs moisturising products to replenish the moisture deficit.

How do I take good care of my skin?
Every skin is different and therefore needs a different type of skincare. Basically, a skincare routine is the same and in doing so, you can use the following step-by-step plan:

Step 1
Cleanse the skin with a mild cleanser that does not disturb the ph value of the skin. For dry skin, choose a full cleanser/cleanser and for combination to oily skin a light cleanser/cleanser that may contain aha/bha acids. A cleanser/cleanser ensures the removal of dirt and waste products from the skin and better absorption of active ingredients from your skin products.

Step 2
Take care of your skin with a serum, eye cream and day and/or night cream. In doing so, you can choose to hydrate, firm, brighten or balance the skin. Do you have dry skin? Then choose rich products that replenish and restore the moisture and fat deficit in your skin. This will prevent dehydration, dryness lines and premature skin ageing. Do you have oily skin? Then choose light products that lower sebum production in the skin and restore moisture levels. This prevents pimples and acne. For the eyes, choose a separate eye cream. Many face creams contain (vegetable) perfumes and can therefore cause irritation in and around the eyes. In addition, eye creams contain a finer structure, making them easier to absorb into the skin.

Why should I cleanse my skin 2x a day?
The advice to cleanse the skin 2x a day is because the skin is an organ of absorption. This means that waste products are absorbed by the skin and can burden the body. In the morning, you cleanse the skin to remove waste products that are excreted by the skin at night. These wastes are released by the body's detoxification process and are excreted on the skin through sweat and sebum. Cleansing the skin prevents the skin from reabsorbing these waste products. In the evening, you cleanse the skin to remove waste products deposited on the skin from outside, such as dust, smok (air pollution), exhaust fumes and harmful substances and bacteria.

Can I exfoliate with every skin type?
No, you cannot exfoliate every skin. A scrub is a product consisting of a gel or cream with granules to remove excess skin cells. For sensitive skin or skin with inflammations, this is too severe. Inflammations and pimples can open up and sensitive skin gets overexcited. Use a mild enzyme-based exfoliant for sensitive skin. For skin with active pimples, breakouts and acne, it is best to use an acid-based peel, also known as a resurfacing. Salicylic acid is the best choice for this. This is a BHA acid and works in the sebaceous gland to dissolve dirt and excess sebum.

When can I start using anti-ageing products?
From the age of 21, the skin matures and ages. From then on, it is important to care for and nourish the skin properly. The better you take care of the skin in your younger years, the better your skin will look when you are older. Especially moisturising is very important in your younger years. Vitamin B3 and hyaluronic acid are very important active ingredients to maintain optimal skin condition. >> Click on this link to see our products with vitamin B3 and hyaluronic acid. <<

How can I get rid of my pigmentation spots?
Pigment spots are difficult to treat because they are often hormonal or sun damage that lies deeper in the skin: in the dermis. This makes it difficult to treat with home skin products. It is best to opt for laser treatment or to have the pigmentation spots frozen (cryotherapy). However, skin products can reduce pigment production and lighten superficial pigment to give a more even skin tone. In addition, always protect your skin with an SPF 30 to prevent new pigmentation spots (sun damage).

How can I reduce my wrinkles?
Unfortunately, you cannot make wrinkles disappear without cosmetic surgery. However, you can take good care of your skin so that wrinkles and (dry) lines soften and become less visible. Glycolic acid, lactic acid, hyaluronic acid and vitamins A and C are great to use to rejuvenate the skin. >> Click on this link to view our products containing these active ingredients.

What can I do about acne?
Acne is a skin problem that a large proportion of the population faces in their lifetime. There are different types of acne, more information on this can be found in our blog under the category: Skin problems. With acne, it is extra important to cleanse and care for the skin properly. Cleanse the skin in the morning and evening and use facial products specially designed for acne. >> Via this link, check out our skin products for skin with blackheads, pimples, pimples, inflammations that fall under the collective term acne.

Why does my face cream roll of my skin?
Sometimes your cream or foundation can start to roll of your skin. This can have several causes:
- You grabbed too much of the product, leaving some of it on the skin. This dries out and starts to roll of your skin.
- You have a face cream that is too oily for your skin so it is not absorbed and the product dries out on the skin. When you rub your skin, the cream starts to roll of your skin.
- Your cream or foundation contains a physical sunscreen that stays on the skin. When you start rubbing on your skin, the sun factor rubs off.

What is the difference between a day cream and a night cream?
Nowadays, more and more 24-hour creams are offered because there is basically no difference between a day cream and a night cream. However, it is nice to adjust the cream for the night to give the skin more different stimuli of actives. During the day with vitamin C and an SPF to protect against pigmentation, free radicals and UV radiation. In the evening with vitamin A and/or E for optimal skin renewal and repair.

How long do skin products have a shelf life?
Like food, skin products also have an expiry date. Each skin product is marked with how long it can be kept after opening. This can be found on the product as a jar with an opened lid. In or next to the jar is a number with an M after it, for example: 12M. This means that the product has a shelf life of 12 months after opening. Many brands also already state a general expiry date on their products. In doing so, they guarantee optimal performance within that time period.
